The Association for Culturally Appropriate Services (AfCAS) recently held a heart warming event centered around friendship, music, and mindfulness with seniors. The gathering aimed to support out volunteer visitors who bring companionship and friendship to senior community members, using the power of human interaction and the arts.
Volunteers from various backgrounds came together to share their experiences of visiting seniors, sharing time and companionship. The event was filled with lively conversations, laughter, and the simple yet profound joy of being together. It wasn’t just about sharing ideas; it was about forming genuine friendships.
Jane Wells from Dementia Australia shared useful information about strategies that work when visiting seniors with dementia. All the volunteer visitors were grateful to gain knowledge and insights that would help them when dealing with people with dementia.
Music played a vital role in the event, Dr.Simone Marino performance spanned different genres and cultural backgrounds. Everyone was encouraged to clap along with the music, creating a joyful and uplifting atmosphere. The performance not only entertained but also connected everyone on a deeper level, transcending language and cultural barriers.
