After 11 exciting months of working together and developing new projects together, it was time for Roshaal to follow new pathways. The AfCAS teams wishes her well and looks forward tomany opportunities for meeting and collaborating in the future.

Coming from a culture with a very different perspective on aging and aged care, joining AfCAS was truly transformative for me. I learned not only how to navigate the office environment but also discovered the abundance of resources available to support others. I realised that sometimes all it takes is a gentle nudge to guide people in the right direction. AfCAS has been an incredible bridge that connects people to the support they need, and I am deeply grateful to have been part of this remarkable journey.

I had the privilege of working with an amazing group of diverse people. They were as empathetic as they were knowledgeable, which gave me the space to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow in the process. The work we do has broadened my perspective and taught me the importance of kindness, patience, and empathy. I also had the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects that challenged me to apply a wide range of skills. My time at AfCAS fostered growth both personally and professionally, and the work touched me so deeply that I became a volunteer myself. One of my key moments was preparing and organising “Tapestry.” The lessons I learned while planning this large-scale event with multiple stakeholders will stay with me, and I hope to return and participate in it every year.

I am especially grateful to Mary for giving me this opportunity and for being with me throughout my role, guiding me with patience and encouragement. I am equally thankful to Anne for her kindness and the warmth she brings with her ever-present smile.

AfCAS is a wonderful place to start and develop your skills. What I gained here is not only meaningful work experience but also the gift of being surrounded by such a tremendous group of people. I now feel confident and ready to embark on my next journey, carrying with me everything I have learned here.
